Programme

We meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. at Bradford Industrial Museum on the third floor, only accessable by lift.

Our workshops are proving very popular so for this reason it is necessary to book your place by completing the list available at prior Guild meetings.

Preference will be given to Guild members.

11.00 a.m. - Secret Santa and Chairs Challenge

Is this the latest ever Christmas present? If you want to take part (everyone attending usually does) bring a wrapped present usually between £5 - £10 and related to what we do in the guild – spinning, weaving, dyeing. Bear in mind the different ages of members and that we have male and female members. On arrival everyone receives a raffle ticket and keeps it safely. Put your wrapped present on the centre table discretely so as few people as possible know who brought what. Each person then chooses a gift when their raffle ticket number is drawn. When everyone has a gift, we open them altogether and have a quick Show and Tell of what we have received.

The Chairs Challenge is decided each year and voted on by members, the winner keeping the Halmshaw trophy (a rather nice wooden bowl/ knitting wool holder) for the year. This year’s challenge was Covid 19. If you have made an item to enter, then when you arrive, you will need to display your item behind the screen so that no one knows who made what. Every member attending can then vote secretly for their favourite, these are all counted up during lunch, the winner declared and the Trophy handed on to be held for the next year.

March 19th 2022

11:00 a.m. - Annual General Meeting

Handing in Exhibition items.

AGM – Annual Reports, resignation of outgoing committee, voting in new committee members etc.

Pot luck lunch – Everyone attending brings one savoury or sweet dish - We have no heating facilities so all food must be ready to serve and eat, if your dish needs cutting or a serving spoon is required please bring one. Please also bring your own cutlery and plates. Items usually brought include salads, bread, cheese, cold meat, quiche, crisps, cakes, fruit salad, trifle etc. You don't need to bring enough for all of us to have a portion of everything - if each dish is enough for four or five people that should enable everyone to have a good lunch.

11:00 a.m.

Meeting to be held in Roberts Park, Saltaire.

No meeting at Bradford Industrial Museum.

It’s the annual Heritage Day in Saltaire and for the first time the Guild has been invited to attend. We have been allocated a space on the Coach Road side of the park, where there is roadside parking and a car park. Saltaire Station is within reach but is the opposite side of the park to our site. We will be able to sell items at this event. Further details to follow. This provides an opportunity for members who are cautious about Covid to meet in the open air – fingers crossed for warm sunshine. I have requested chairs and a table to be available but as we haven’t attended this event before you may want to put a chair in the car ‘just in case’ as well as your usual spinning/weaving/knitting equipment. The event runs in the afternoon but we can arrive from 11 a.m.

The postcode of Roberts Park, Higher Coach Road is BD17 7LU

Below is a map of where we are meeting, at the red blob:
