I am a weaver, spinner, and occasional dyer with a lifelong love of natural fibres. I joined the guild in 2021 as a spinner and soon became fascinated by the art of weaving — particularly inkle weaving. What began as curiosity quickly grew into a deep passion for exploring colour, texture, and technique. I enjoy every stage of the fibre journey, from raw fleece to finished cloth, and value the sense of creativity, tradition, and community that weaving and spinning bring. Being part of the guild has been a wonderful opportunity to learn, share, and connect with others who are equally inspired by fibre arts.

I enjoy spinning, dyeing, weaving on a rigid heddle loom, knitting, crochet, sewing/dressmaking, and embroidery. I have previously done knitting design and wrote four knitting books for a Yorkshire yarn company and also did some technical editing for books and patterns. Outside textiles, my other interests include church bellringing and clog dancing.

Spinning is my favourite (but don’t tell dyeing!). Weaving helps to use up my stash of hand spun yarn to make more room for fluff. I am currently out of my comfort zone as an art student studying for a Foundation Degree in Textile Practice at Bradford College.

I’ve loved knitting, sewing and general crafts all my life – I had two artistic and crafty parents, so no option really. I met two friendly and encouraging guild members demonstrating spinning at an exhibition. I was fascinated to discover that people still spin, so I joined Bradford Guild and a whole new world opened up. I now mainly spin and knit, I enjoy watching and learning about weaving though I don’t do it, and I have learned more about natural dying and dabble in that. I enjoy doing what I do and love that there is always more to learn, particularly about the history of textiles.

My interests are spinning wool; wool/fibre preparation including washing, combing and carding; and knitting. I’ve got an 8 shaft table loom that I need to start using! I do a bit of dressmaking and upholstery, too.

I was primarily a knitter and started spinning to develop my own yarn but ended up with so much I had to start weaving. (That’s my excuse!). I am also an avid reader, love walking and travelling.

My passion is weaving – I have a 4 shaft and an 8 shaft table loom, and an 8 shaft floor loom, but I also enjoy crochet and needlework. I also like dyeing, particularly with natural dyes.
I am a retired teacher so I love to pass on any weaving knowledge I have gained over the years.

When I moved to Yorkshire 5 years ago I discovered weaving which I have fallen in love with. I have a 4 shaft table loom at home which is a real joy. One thing leads to another so now dyeing and spinning too! Other interests are reading, gardening and being out in the glorious countryside around us.

My interests include history, spinning, weaving, knitting, steampunk and engineering. History and Steampunk led me to knitting, then spinning and weaving, and I now have a 4-shaft table loom and an 8-shaft table loom, and two working spinning wheels.

My main interests are spinning, weaving, knitting and, to a lesser extent, crochet and dyeing. Having retired at the end of 2021, I am now enjoying having more time to spend on these activities, continually learning new skills.
