Knitted Cowl

Gemma Bage

I took those colours and used them to blend Perendale wool to make rolags to spin into yarn. I was inspired by the fabric in how I placed the wool before spinning. I also chose a rust brown Merino to ply it with as it feels like the base colour to me. My final piece is a knitted cowl inspired by the cape pattern drawn along side the fabric design, I tried to spin my yarn so it would change colour every few stitches, just like the Archive piece.

Materials

Wool. One ply Perendale, One ply Merino

Inspiration

My piece was inspired by the colours and fabric of a winning entry in Bradford Textile Society design competition 1976 by Gillian Craven. It straight away reminded me of the fabric used on buses when I was younger.
