Krystyna Gadd
The overall effect of these fabrics is a plaid but it uses yarns of different thicknesses. After testing colours I chose one with a very vibrant pink accent.
Wool found inside some speakers from the 80’s, had been spun by Gareth my husband and was very “sticky” in nature. As it was rescued from a previous project this yarn was already in pre-cut lengths which limited the items I could make with it, so a cushion (or two) was my idea for this project.
Using yarn in pre-cut lengths made the process of weaving a little slower than usual as I had to keep stopping to tie/blend the yarn into the fabric.
Materials
100% pure wool- some handspun and some hand blended. Some(cream) British wool found inside some hi-fi speakers from the 1980’s.
The bright pink wool was from an old commercial cone as a plied single . The pink/blue yarn was my hand blended “hydrangea” mix of fibre which was a mix of merino and corriedale.
Inspiration
Mill fabric samples from Joseph Hoyle and sons, New Mill (Huddersfield)
